Interestingly, guitar companies used to charge a substantial extra fee for left-handed guitars. Thankfully, laws were passed against discriminatory practices of this sort and it's not the case anymore, in most cases.
 
Nowadays, there is a better variety of left-handed guitars out there, offered by many guitars brands, however the selection of lefties is still pretty limited. Unfortunately, there are not too many lefty chord books available either.
 
LH guitars are available in four (Bass), six and seven strings. Most notable or pioneering manufacturers are Cremona, Gibson, D'Angelico, N.Y. Epiphone.
